High School Internship Program

The Visionary Internship Program is a structured career pathway experience that readies grade 10-12 high school students for the workplace. Indiviuals will work with members of our team to gain work experience, classroom instruction and nationally-recognized certifications.
Structured On-the-Job Learning & Mentorship
Get structured hands-on training from mentors in the fields of Network Engineering, Program Management, and more.
Professional Development
Learn important business skills such as professionalism, public speaking, effective communication, and leadership.
Certification Readiness
Prepare and sit for industry certifications that will put you ahead of the competition.

What’s Involved

Our Internship Program is a three (3) year program that runs from January to August. Up to 20 students from grades 10-12 will be selected each year.

The program covers the cost of a student’s first attempt for any certification testing. There are several certifications students can take.

From January to May:
Two (2) in-person sessions at our offices in Herndon, VA, each month.  

Students will present a final Capstone Project that showcases the knowledge and skills they learned through the program.
From June to August:
Three (3) weeks of learning at our Herndon, VA office, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day.

Students receive additional training and hands-on experience to prepare for industry certification programs such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CompTIA Security+.  

What You’ll Learn

On-the-Job Training

The main area of study will be Network Engineering. Network engineers are responsible for designing, maintaining, implementing, and troubleshooting an organization's computer networks. Their daily tasks include configuring and maintaining network hardware and software, ensuring network security and integrity, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting network issues.

The Visionary Internship program prepares you for a number of certification exams.

  • Financial Literacy Fundamentals  
  • Resume Writing  
  • Professional Interviewing  
  • Corporate Presence  
  • Introduction to Other Corporate Disciplines:
    • Project Management  
    • Configuration Management  
    • Marketing  Security – Physical & Information Security  
    • Social & Emotional Wellness

Application Requirements

  • Essay submission answering the following questions:
    • Tell us a little about yourself – family, friends, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.
    • Why are you a good candidate for the program?
    • What do you hope to get out of the program?
    • What are your plans after high school?
    • What are your career goals and aspirations?
  • 15-minute interview
  • Letter from your school stating Good Standing
  • 2 letters of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or adult mentor (must be non-family member)
  • Permission slip/consent form from Parent/Guardian
